I am an independent energy consultant in Ireland, with experience dating continuously in the sector back to 2003. With a PhD in biomedical engineering, my track record in the energy industry requires a continued willingness to learn and adapt to new areas as the need arises. Starting with a role with the Transmission System Operator back in 2003 (ancillary services, locational signals, demand response), the focus of my consultancy has evolved with the opportunities and activity in the all-island electricity and gas industry.
The one consistent theme has been guiding clients through change: be it working with the Regulatory team on the introduction of the Single Electricity Market (SEM), providing training to industry representative bodies on early REFIT projects, working with retail suppliers on the smart metering programme, or advising on routes to market for independent generation and suppliers. Since founding Mullany Energy (now trading on behalf of Mullany Engineering Consultancy and Power Purchase Agreement Solutions), I have enjoyed working with over 200 clients in the Irish energy market. They range from single turbine generator developers and small retail suppliers, to institutional investors and international utilities with GWs of assets under management and TWh of annual traded commodity.
